About us

The German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery stands for highly specialised medical care with exceptional quality and results. We only perform surgeries if we can provide outstanding results. We consciously strive to be exceptional and to provide high-quality – not just average – medical care.

The 30,000 surgeries performed by UGRS surgeons speak for themselves.

The organisational form is the German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery, an association of leading and very experienced medical experts in these areas.

The German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery also stands for not withholding anything and providing extensive medical information for the wellbeing of the patients and for achieving the maximum quality of their care.

Special aspects of our organisation:

The German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery is not a ‘brand name’ allowing anyone to become a member and offer differing levels of quality at their locations. No, the German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery is intentionally different!

The only honest way to be able to offer the same high degree of quality at every location is to limit membership to the true specialists of their field (more precisely: their type of surgery, for no one can perform all possible operations with the same level of quality) and having them rotate between locations so that the same doctors always perform surgery on the patients and handle their post-op care no matter what location the patients visit for their treatment. Our patients always receive treatment from the Chief Surgeon for their specific type of surgery.

The surgeons are supported by an impressive number of specialists, medical assistants, nurses, patient attendants, service employees and many others on site at each location.

This leads to a familiar, calm and friendly atmosphere. Every patient can know that they are in good hands receiving good care from those who understand them.

Our consultations last over an hour and the post-op visits last around 15 to 30 minutes per patient.

We explain the procedures to our patients in detail and explain the rules to be followed by the patient after the surgery in understandable language, delve intensively into specific details and also advise patients about further options for therapy by their own doctor in their location (if desired).

We consciously select our patient advisors according to their character and the qualities of their service, not from their talent at selling services.

That is also what we mean by quality in addition to the highly specialised surgeries themselves.

Our history

The work of the doctors of the German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery has a long tradition. See the list of doctors for their individual curriculae vitae.

At the beginning of the 1990s an international cooperation of several leading European institutions and clinics was first formed with the aim of creating uniform surgical standards and establishing productive modern surgical techniques.

Even today it is unfortunately still not entirely socially accepted to use medical care to deal with the shape of the penis and before it was even considered ‘perverse’. There are still some older urologists who find it disreputable when doctors deal with the shape of the penis.

That is why there were and still are only a few centres that have been able to collect sufficient experience in this area against all opposition. On the other hand, these centres can actually provide more advanced surgical techniques and better results than a normal urology department.

The first organised association that publicised itself was the Men’s Clinic Group headquartered in Athens. Its successor with a larger number of members and a more extensive list of types of surgery was and is the UGRS. This association was also the first to offer procedures performed on female genitals on a wider scale.

UGRS stands for international urogenital reconstructive surgery, i.e. reconstructive, corrective or aesthetic surgery in the genital area and in the area of the urinary tract collection system.

The German Centre for Urology and Phallopasty Surgery is a member of the UGRS Group and resulted from a conversion of the UGRS centres in Germany, Spain and England.

There was a reason for this conversion and limitation to certain procedures for men:

Word has gotten around among patients and doctors about the high quality work of the UGRS centres in recent years in particular. The numbers of patients coming to our centres have risen significantly. Even patients from Japan and Australia are now travelling to Germany to visit us.

There are only 24 hours in a day and we cannot continue to grow without limitations without putting the high quality of our work at risk, so we have reduced the list of procedures we perform at these three locations and now concentrate on our top procedures for which we are known in particular.

We renamed ourselves in order to make this change clear to patients as well.
